Group Defines as two or more persons, interacting and interdependent, who have come together to achieve a certain objective. Essential because whatever the groups do the organization is affected. In order for the organization to be effective the members of the group must have one aim which is to accomplished goals. There must be team work in order to achieve it.
What are the classification of group? Formal group-in a formal group it has designated work assignments and established task. Group Classification
Informal group - neither formally structured nor organizationally determined. -Formed by individuals and developed among common interest and friendship rather than around a deliberate design. Group Classification
COMMAND GROUP - composed of individual who report directly to a certain manager . TASK GROUP - a group consisting of persons working together to complete a job task.
INTEREST GROUP - it is formed because of some special topic of interest. In general the group disband when the interest declines or a goal has been achieved. FRIENDSHIP GROUPS - a group where members are brought together because they share on or more common characteristics such as age, political beliefs, or ethnic background.

NOTE: GROUPS ARE like people; they learn and they develop. By involving through a presentation of a standardized sequence in the development of groups.
STAGES OF GROUP DEVELOPMENT FORMING STAGE - initial entry of members Eager to learn what task they will be performing How they can benefit from group membership What constitutes acceptable behaviour What rules must be followed
STAGES OF GROUP DEVELOPMENT 2. STORMING STAGE -It is a conflict stage because individuals compete in imposing their preference on the group and to achieve their desired status position. They develop over leadership and authority.
STAGES OF GROUP DEVELOPMENT 3. NORMING STAGE - also known as initial integration stage. The group really begin to come together as a coordinated unit. Cooperation and collaboration are the main characteristics.
STAGES OF GROUP DEVELOPMENT 4. PERFORMING STAGE- this stage involves the termination of activities . 5. ADJOURNING STAGE- it involves the termination of activities
