INTRODUCTION Waste material management is one of the most powerful concepts in recent years. Plastic waste is generated in very high quantities so there is a need for an appropriate method for plastic waste management and road construction is one such method A pothole is a type of failure in pavements caused by the presence of water in the underlying soil structure and the presence of traffic passing over the affected area. The purpose of the project is to develop a pothole repair mix in bituminous pavements by employing plastic waste, which can be stored in vacuum sealed packs and used readily at site. Repair of the pavements can be done without blocking or diverting the traffic from the current pattern of operation for long periods and the same can be opened for traffic immediately after repair. The mix design of the mix is done by using Marshall Mix design method which is generally used for the design of bituminous mixes. Implementation of this idea will also help to reduce the increasing accident rate, overcome labor scarcity etc. Department of Civil Engineering, Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT 3

Department of Civil Engineering, Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT 4 SCOPE OF STUDY Advantages  Reduce the need of bitumen by around 10%.  Develop a technology which is eco-friendly.  Improvements in fatigue life of roads.  Increase the strength and better performance of the road.  Use higher percentage of plastic waste.  The gases released during traffic conditions are absorbed by smoke absorbent.  To eradicate potholes  To minimize the global warming , greenhouse gases and pollution.  The lifespan of the roads can be increased.  Eco-friendly in nature. ᴛʜᴇ ᴩ ᴏᴛʜᴏʟᴇ ʀᴇ ᴩ ᴀɪʀ ᴍɪx developed in the present study is obtained by partially replacing aggregates with waste plastic and thereby reducing the overall cost and also its effects on the environment. The mix is prepared using medium cutback bitumen of MC800 grade. The same mix maybe prepared by using VG30 grade bitumen diluted with 20% kerosene and emulsified bitumen. anti-stripping agent increases the binding property of aggregate with the bitumen.the actual performance of the mix can be studied by applying it to potholes formed in fields. An area with high rainfall is more preferable as it would induce the worst conditions for the mix

Use of plastic wate in bituminous mix 2017 The objective of this project is to use plastic with bitumen to obtain more durability and strength Titanium dioxide is used as a smoke absorbent here. 1.Crushing value reduces from23.32 to 14.22 for Normal and plastic coated aggregates 2.aggregate impact value for plastic coated aggregates will be reduced by 9 % than normal aggregates 3.penetration value of bitumen is higher than the Bitumen coated with the plastic 4.the stability of Modified bitumen (10 % bitumen replaced by plastic)Is higher than the normal bitumen

Department of Civil Engineering, Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT 6 LITERATURE REVIEW SL.NO: PAPER TITLE YEAR OBJECTIVE OF THE PAPER FINDINGS 2. Plastic as fill in material for pothole repairing. 2021 The objective of the project is that the plastic modified asphalt mixture has higher resilient modulus than the conventional asphalt. Plastic modified asphalt contributed good Marshall stability with the optimum percentage of plastic in asphalt mixture. However, the addition of too much plastic in the asphalt mixture can result in deteriorating stability. The tensile strength of plastic modified asphalt shows greater strength compared to the conventional asphalt. Plastic modified asphalt can improve the resistance of the moisture damage of the asphalt mixture. The deformation of modified asphalt decreases, possessing higher stiffness.
