•30: Minimum thirty-point font size
Simple Structure

6
Why 10?
•Slides should outline material
•Focus on whoyou are, whatyou do, and
whyit matters
•Branding:
–Your image is your brand
–Incorporate what makes you different on
each slide, because people will pay attention
and are more likely to respond

7
•Studies show that the average attention span
for an adult watching a presentation is
twenty minutes
•Taking breaks:
–You can extend the audience’s attention
span by taking short breaks
–Examples of effective “breaks”: a blank
slide, a short story, or a demonstration
Why 20?

8
•Ensures that audience can
read your slides
•Forces you to know your
material
•Word Count:
–30 point font keeps word
count low
–40 words per slide
–When possible, substitute
images for words
Why 30?

9

We all love stories;
storiesaffirm who we are.

-Andrew Stanton
