For my Square of Hope, I choose these specific images because it represents the two twins World Trade Center, New York. They way how it was before and after the suicide attack that happened on September 9 th , 2001. The terrorist organization called al-Qaeda, founded by Osama bin Laden, hijacked four airplanes where two flew directly towards the twin towers, and the third to the Pentagon Building. The fourth was supposed to go directly to Washington, DC, but it failed because of four passengers who help o managed the hijackers. Many firefighters sacrifice their own life to help and save others who were stuck inside the buildings. I love the photo that shows the firefighters putting the American flag up as a sign of not giving up. Also, during the attack, many people were jumping and falling from the Twin Towers. After the nightmare, students were making quilts to honor the ones who died. I also putted a sign of peace with the American flag representing what we as a country want.
Terrorism is considered to be an invisible warfare, because the victims don’t have any clue nor warning of when, where and how they are going to be attack. That’s why is called invisible, because no one knows when are we going to be attack unless you work with terrorist organizations. Terrorism is very different form other warfare; a warfare is a combat between two allies where the two groups know what is going to happen and when. They have knowledge of the attack. The way the United Sates responded to terrorism was by tightening security. The US Congress created t he Patriot Act and the Department of Homeland Security after the 9/11 attack. Some global responses to terrorism are the Resolution 1624 (Universal Declaration of Human Rights), responding by taking away the cult’s status in Japan, by protecting London’s Underground, and some of them even gave up hope.
