NEW TOOLS FOR INTEGRATING DISASTER RISK
REDUCTION
There is a recognised need for integrated
approaches to mainstreaming disaster
risk reduction issues into the planning
phases of project cycle management as a
whole, to complement efforts to adapt
specific tools deployed within the project
cycle.
PROJCET CYCLE MANAGEMENT
Two basic approaches are being used:
•Checklists. Setting a series of questions relating
to disaster risk reduction, which must be
answered when developing project planning
documents.
•Entry points. A focus on the process of planning,
ensuring that relevant issues are considered
during different stages in the project management
cycle.
