2. There are seven key information processes. They are: Collecting Organising Analysing Storing and Retrieving Processing Transmitting and Receiving Displaying

3. These seven processes are used together to create computer-based systems that meet the need(s) of the individual or group. Collecting is the process that defines the required data and identifies the source of the data. It also includes the determination of how the data will be gathered and the gathering of the data.

4. Organising is the process where the format in which the data will represented is decided. Analysing is the process in which the data is interpreted and transformed into information. Storing and retrieving involves the saving of both data and information so that it can be used again at a later stage.

5. The processing stage is where data and information are manipulated into a suitable form. Transmitting and receiving is concerned with the sending and receiving of data and information both within and beyond the specified information system. Displaying is where the form of information display is decided. Display devices can include screens, printers, speakers or data projectors.
