Cognitive Process… These are the mental processes by which knowledge is acquired. Cognitive functions of brain are the higher mental functions. Cognitive psychology is concerned with how knowledge is acquired, stored, correlated and retrieved by studying mental processes.
Cognitive Process… Cognitive psychology view the brain as information-processing system, the data acquired to the brain through senses.
Attention… The word "attention” is derived from the Latin word “ attendere” , Which means "to turn one's mind towards“. The first stage of perception is attention.
Attention … Attention is the highest and clearest consciousness of an object or stimulus out of many. Attention is the focusing of consciousness on particular object or idea at particular time to the exclusion of other objects or ideas.
Attention… Involuntary attention It does not require any conscious effort to attend to an object. We give involuntary attention to various objects, situation or perception. Example:- Loud sound Bright Light Strong penetrating smell etc.
Attention… Voluntary attention We have to make deliberate efforts consciously to a stimulus or situation. We have to make conscious efforts to do so. This type of attention we give to the uninteresting objects, situation. Examples:- Uninteresting lectures Difficult assignment etc.
Attention… Habitual attention Certain situation neither demands any conscious efforts or voluntary attention. We attend to them because of our attitude, habit or interest. This type of attention is called habitual attention. Example:- Attention given to the patient by NURSE.
Attention… Span of attention The maximum amount of material that can be attended to in one period of attention is called “span of attention”.
