The ministry of health and family at the
center and states plays an important role in the
governmental effort in the delivery of health and
family welfare services to people in the country.
Family welfare includes not only planning of
birth, but they welfare of wholes family by means of
total family health care. The family welfare program
has high priority in India because its success
depends upon the quality of life of all citizens.

Family welfare program with involvement of grass
root worker.
1982 – 1984 :
National health policy.
1985 - 1986:
Universal immunization and ORS integrated in
program.
2000:
National population policy with focus on target
free, client choice & quality family planning
services with gender issue and concerned for
adolescent & underprivileged.
