2. Pharmacy Pharmacy is science of medicine associated with research, manufacturing, analysis, selling and distribution of drugs. To deliver safe and effective drug and dosage form to community.

3. Who is a Pharmacist? A Qualified Person having a qualification of Degree or Diploma in Pharmacy . ( D.Pharm ., B.Pharm .) Registered Pharmacist in State Pharmacy Council . Having a Licence & Knowledge, to sale, distribution and manufacturing of medicines.

4. Pharmacy Practice “Pharmacy Practice” is the discipline of Pharmacy which involves developing the professional roles of Pharmacist . Pharmacy Practice offers practicing pharmacists in-depth useful reviews and research trials and surveys of new drugs and novel therapeutic approaches.

5. Good Pharmacy Practice Requirements Good Pharmacy Practice requires that a pharmacist's first concern must be the welfare of the patients in all settings . The core of the pharmacy activity is the supply of medication and other health care products , of assured quality, appropriate information and advice for the patient, and monitoring the effects of their use. An integral part of the pharmacist's contribution is the promotion of rational and economic prescribing and appropriate medicine use . The objective of each element of pharmacy service is relevant to the individual, is clearly defined and is effectively communicated to all those involved.

Pharmacy Practice Scope In the changing scenario of pharmacy practice in India, for successful practice of Hospital Pharmacy , the students are required to learn various skills like Drug Distribution, Drug information, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) for improved patient care . Advancement in research and technology – newer drug in market. Population explosion – medical facility insufficient for all. Disease prevention and health promotion in society.

9. Pharmacy Practice objectives Know various Drug distribution methods in a hospital. Appreciate the pharmacy stores management and inventory control . Monitor drug therapy of patients through medication chart review and clinical review. Obtain medication history interview and counsel the patients. Identify drug related problems. Detect and access ADR Interpret selected laboratory results of specific disease states Know pharmaceutical care services D o patient counselling in community pharmacy Appreciate the concept of Rational Drug therapy.
