Step 2:Find the assignment details Refer to Subject Learning Guide pp 14-17 (Available on LMS.) Dates/submission: (Week 6) on Turnitin link on MKT1MDP LMS page. Type of research Secondary data: so-called desk research, and observational research. Duration: (5 minute maximum) Marks: 30% of the total marks for this subject N.B.You must compress your video file please. For help with Steps 2-9 ask your Lecturer.
Step 3: Find the assignment task (pp. 14-17 SLG) edited version here. A large investor company wishes to examine the current market for Savory Snacks Industry in Australia, with a view to investing in this industry. You are asked to complete the following report. Your task: Use online resources including the 2 compulsory reports mentioned earlier, websites, journal articles, newspaper articles and databases . Present a brief video report that will include the following information: Perform a macro-environmental analysis of the industry . Identify and describe the segments (and segmenting variables) used in this industry. Make a recommendation as to the segment of the market you think the company should look to invest in, and provide justifications for your choice.
Step 4: Starting the draft . Open a Word document; use the suggested report template on the SLG p.14-17, (right) to put down some headlines and sub-headlines. These will provide the outline of your report. Introduction with your name , Student number, class and Lecturer’s details Executive summary ( short 1 to 2 minute summary of what you have studied, and your recommendations. Main report body with SUBHEADINGS- (hint, don’t call this main report) this is where you analyse the macro-environment. EG. Macroenvironment Analysis Economic Political and Legal Etc. This Section is the largest part of your video. (approx. 3 mins) Conclusions/Results (Steps 4 and 5 should take approx. 1 minute) Recommendations (30 secs. To 1 min.) References (min. 3 from text or e-Journals) This isn’t included in your video time. Please leave the references on screen for approx. 30 seconds so they can be read
Step 5: Begin to locate the marketing theory Using your textbook, add bullet point notes to your Word doc, with the relevant definitions and theories you think should be included under each sub/heading. Remember to reference using Harvard Referencing Guide found here: http://www.lib.latrobe.edu.au/referencing-tool/harvard Remember this is only a draft and you can change it later.
Step 6: Begin to locate your facts/evidence READ the MARKETLINE and IBISWorld reports Begin to make bullet point notes in your Word doc. Include information from the reports under your different headings in your Word doc. Step 7: Put you points in order and write sentences. Now list your bullet points for each sub/heading in order (both theory and evidence) What needs to go 1 st , 2 nd ….etc. Begin to write your bullet points into whole sentences.
Step 8: Read and look for gaps. Now READ your report draft and make notes where you have to explain/change/add things. Do you need more information? Where will you find it? Have you explained what the evidence means for the Savory Snack Industry in Australia?
Step 9: Finalise your script. Will you just talk to the camera, or will you include some ppts slides? (Any other software is ok- Word etc.) You must appear on screen for at least half of the 5 mins. Your video must run by itself, so requires animation, if using ppt etc.
Step 10 Film you presentation Edit your presentation Compress you file Upload your presentation to the LMS Submission link. YOU MUST ALWAYS KEEP A COPY OF ALL WORK SUBMITTED. For help with this step see the Student Help on the LMS site. (next page)
