Oral and written communication Presented by: PLTCOL Joel S. Monsanto (Ret.)

Effective communication is an essential element in maintaining security in any organization. There are various types of communication that are vital in ensuring the protection of assets from theft, damage, or unauthorized access. Some of these types of communication include:

VERBAL COMMUNICATION This type of communication involves the use of spoken words. It is an essential tool in security as it enables security personnel to interact with other staff members and the general public.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION Written communication includes emails, memos, reports, and other documents. It is an essential tool for documenting security procedures, incidents, and measures taken to mitigate risk.

SECURITY REPORT This report is a document that a security officer or  security guard  writes. It includes many details about events occurring within a person's shift. These reports contain investigation, interviews and observations — and they are crucial to ensuring safety and accountability.

SECURITY REPORT Daily activity:  This is a summary overview of the events and activities that occur during your shift. It includes details about your routine and any unusual things you notice.

SECURITY REPORT Incident:  An incident report details a specific incident that occurs on the property you are responsible for securing. This would include things like a volatile individual, theft or a fight.
