SAFETY GUIDELINES 5’s: When Safety and Lean meet SEIRI (SHORT) : Keeping only what is necessary and discard everything else- when in doubt, throw it out. SEITON(STRAIGHTEN) : Arranging and Label only necessary items for easy use and return by anyone. SEISO(SWEEP ) : Keeping everything swept and clean for Inspection for safety anfd preventive Maintainance of equipment. SEIKETSU(STANDARDIZE) : The state that exists when first three pillars of S‘s are maintained. SHITSUKE(SUSTAIN) : Making a habit of properly maintained correct procedure.
Ceiling Fan A ceiling fan is a fan mounted on the ceiling of a room or space, usually electrically powered, that uses hub-mounted rotating blades to circulate air. Fans creates a cooling effect by helping to evaporate sweat and increase heat exchange via convection. Fans may add a small amount of heat to the room due to friction and waste heat from the motor. Fans use significantly less power than air conditioning as cooling air is thermodynamically expensiv
Basic Components Used In Ceiling Fan The Key components Of a CeIling Fan are the following: An Electric Motor Blades Blade irons Flywheel
Ceiling Fan Blades The ceiling fan blades are designed in accordance with aerodynamic law because they create airflow when the ceiling fan is in motioThe ceiling fan blades are designed in accordance with aerodynamic law because they create airflow when the ceiling fan is in motion. The ceiling fan should have 3-4 blades and an angle between each blade should be correctly maintained according to the standards (IEC or any other national standards).
Fan Elecric Motor Single phase capacitor run and start induction motor, rated at 230 V ± 10 % at a frequency of 50 Hz, is generally employed in ceiling fan. This motor comprises two parts that are stator and rotor. Stator: The stator, build up of laminated silicon steel, uses two windings termed as starting and running windings located 90 degree electrical apart. Rotor: A fan consists of a rotating arrangement of vanes or blades which act on the air. The rotating assembly of blades and hub is known as an impeller, a rotor, or a runner.
STATOR (Stationary Part) ROTOR (Rotary Part)
Blade flanges Blade flanges alternatively termed as blade irons, blade arms or blade holders. These are metal arms that connect the blades to the motor.
Canopy/Switch Cup: There are two canopies top and bottom, built up of metal cylinder, located along suspension rod. Top canopy is mounted like that it covers the hook, nut, and bolt. Bottom canopy is mounted under and in the centre of the motor of the fan.
Suspension rod/Down rod: Suspension rod is made up of rigid galvanized steel pipe of suitable length and diameter. This metal pipe is employed to defer the fan from the ceiling. One end of the pipe is bolted or screwed at the position particularly made on the motor body to receive the suspension rod. Another end of the suspension rod is attached to 2 plates, to from a "U" shaped joint, along with the help of a nut and bolt (with extra lock nut).
Speed regulator: Speed regulator is employed to control the speed of the fan. The speed of the fan can be changed by altering the applied voltage. The most general technique to change the applied voltage is i) By tapped field resistors and ii) By tapped series inductors.
Circuit Diagram Of Ceiling Fan Ceiling fan is integral part of every house and Industry. In this article we discuss about wiring of ceiling fans and circuit diagram of ceiling fans.
Ceiling fan are having “Capacitor Start capacitor Run motor”. These motors have capacitor in series with starting winding. Capacitor used for this is electrolytic type. Due to this capacitor single phase get divided into two phases, due to this magnetic field is produced and due to which motor starts to rotate.
Circuit diagram for ceiling fan is as shown below where capacitor is connected in series with starting winding.
Ques. How to reverse the direction of ceiling fan? Ans. Direction of Ceiling fan motor can be reversed connecting capacitor with running winding instead of starting winding. Wiring of ceiling fan:- Ceiling fan connected to power supply through a switch and regulator. Usually phase is rotated through switch and regulator and neutral is directly connected at ceiling fan. Fan regulator is used to control the speed of fan.
Faults In Ceiling Fan There are two types of faults:- (A) Mechanical faults
(B) Electrical Faults A) Mechanical faults:- There are following Mechanical faults occur in fans:-
(i) Bent in shaft
(ii) Bearing problem
Due to all above faults fan may not run properly or run very slowly. B) Electrical Faults:- (i) Main running winding get Open circuit/Short circuit. (ii) Main starting winding get Open circuit/Short circuit. (iii) Capacitor get Open circuit/Short circuit. (iv) Earth Fault. (v) Fan motor rotate in reverse direction.
TEST PERFORMED ON ROTOR There are majorily 3 test perforrmed on Rotor: Open circuit Test Short circuit Test High Voltage Test
ASSEMBLING OF THE ROTOR AND STATOR
PACKAGING OF THE FAN The Barcoded fan on the conveyor belt Is packaged in the cartain. At the same time the blades are also packed. Final packaging is done.
CONCLUSION Industrial training is the way for us to get the practical knowledge of the entire theoretical concept studied in college session. In college workshop we are not able to give proper time for practical work as in industrial training. So as a Mechanical Engineering student I think this training is very useful for us and we learn enough things in the training period and our knowledge level will be increased. We enjoy the training and maintain discipline in company and the entire mechanics are impressed with our attitude and sense of learning and they give us best wishes for our future and say that you must be hard work as an engineering student to make your future bright. So, at last I would like to thanks once again to all company members, work manager and HOD of Mechanical Engineering.
