I N T R O D U C T I O N : - Oyster name is due to tongue shaped pileus and eccentric lateral stipe Oyster mushroom is scientifically known as Pleurotus. In India also commonly known as “ Dhingri Oyster mushroom was first cultivated at 1917 in Germany by flank I t i s r i c h i n v i t a m i n C a n d D c o m p l e x . Protein content varies from 1.6% to 2.5%

S P W A N I N G Preparation or procurement of spwan :- Mother spwan can be procured from any mushroom research centre

P R I M A R Y C U L T U R E O F S P W A N P R E P A R E D B Y FOLLOWING Select good quality jowar or wheat grains free from pest and moulds. Boil the grains submerged in clean water for 20-30 minutes. When the grains become soft, remove and spread evenly on a cotton cloth to drain out the water and cool the grains. Mix 3% chalk powder (30g/ kg of grain) for adjusting the pH and to keep the grains loose. Fill 250gms of grain in cleaned and dried glucose bottle of 500ml capacity or propylene bags and plug the mouth of the bottle tightly with non-absorbent cotton.

5. Sterilize the bottles in autoclave by exposing to 121° C and 15lbs pressure/sq inch for 20 minutes. After cooling, transfer the bottles to inoculation chamber. Transfer few grains with mycelial growth into sterilized substrate bottle under aseptic condition and plug it with cotton. Shift the inoculated bottles to spawn running room having temperature range of 25-30° C .

H O T W A T E R S T E R I L I Z A T I O N : - Select good quality straws of wheat or soybean crop free from pest and mould. Soak it in cold water before hot water treatment at least 12-14hrs After that process proceeds on next day B o i l t h e s t r a w i n h o t w a t e r w h o s e t e m p e r a t u r e i s a b o u t 70 - 8 ° c , f o r 30min- 1 hour After of treatment take straw out of it and set it for cooling Straw temperature should as room temperature for bag / bed filling

CHEMICAL STERILIZATION :- For chemical sterilization used straw of soybean For this in 100 lit of water add 125ml Formaline to kill foreign organisms Add 7.5 gm Bavistin for any fungal mould Soak straw in that water for 16-18 hr

BEDFILLING U s e p o l y t h e n e b a g s f o r b e d f i l l i n g Sterilize the polythene bags using formaline At bottom spread some mushroom spawn and add one layer of straw on it Repeat the same process for maximum 5-6 layers in one polythene bag Tie the opening of the polythene bag with string as it will be air tight

A C T U A L W O R K D O N E W e C l e a n e d t h e M u s h r oo m s h e d . Collected the straw. Sterilized the straw. Took polythene bag Sterilized the polythene bag with formaline. Arranged the beds inside the shed, following rack system. After 21 days we cut the polythene cover & remove fully. S p r a y t h e w a t e r o n b e d r e g u l a r l y . Maintained the temperature and humidity inside the shed. Cleaned the floor Harvested the mushroom. S c r a p e d o u t m u s h r oo m b e d a f t e r h a r v e s t i n g .

S W O T A N A L Y S I S S t r e n g t h : - Abundant raw material available . Cheap manpower. Enormous domestic market . Growing mushrooms is easy .

Decline in production of mushrooms in other countries, breaking down of international trade barriers. Well adapted modern technologies for production and post harvest management. Increasing awareness and liking for mushrooms in domestic market. Opportunities

Poor quality of raw materials Lack of awareness. Lack of Marketing Lack of Technical Knowledge Perishable product W e a k n e s s

1. Fierce competition from Other countries and existing canned mushroom markets. Demand shift towards fresh mushrooms. Marketing of mushroom. Insect Pests Damage T h r e a t s

CONCLUSION A f t e r o u r a c t u a l w o r k d o n e , w e o b s e r v e d o r w e a ll c o n c l u d e that mushroom production business can make profit , Even in small scale business It will become side business along with Agriculture Even the house wifes can do that business , but in small scale Mushroom Production will become new business trend in our country
