Objectives Define human behavior and organizational behavior. 2. Discuss the factors affecting human behavior in organization. 3. Share experiences on the factors affecting human behavior.

Let’s share… Share your own definition of human behavior organizational behavior

What is human behavior? Human behavior refers to the physical action of the person that can be seen of heard. It is exhibited with thoughts, feelings or emotions and sentiments .

What is organizational behavior? Organizational behavior refers to actions and attitudes of individuals and groups toward one another and toward the organization as a whole, and its effect on the organization’s functioning and performance. Organizational behavior is the collective behavior of the individuals and groups within the organization.

What is organizational behavior? The behavior in the organization outlines the mission and goals of the organization and defines how its people interact within one another within its setting. The organizational behavior also speaks to where an organization fits into the bigger picture.

What is organizational behavior? All organizations have an internal culture that is unique. Each employee contributes, not only a certain skill set, but also a personality with inherent values and beliefs. And those values and beliefs will determine how they will interact in work groups, with other employees, and toward management.

If your are a leader, is there a need for you to understand the levels of behavior? Why? How about if you are the follower?

Levels of behavior The understanding of individual, group, and organizational behavior is critical to success as a leader or a follower, and it requires a systematic study to grasp all of the variables that impact behavior. The organizational behavior is determined by a set of factors that affect how individuals and groups act in organizations and how organizations manage their environment.

What are the factors affecting human behavior in organization?

What are the factors affecting human behavior in organization? People Structure Technology Environment

People People make up the internal social system of the organization. That system consists of individuals and groups. Since the organization is a combination of a group of people, managers must handle the people in the right direction.

People People within the organization are one of the primary influences over the overall organizational behavior within the school. To guide people or employees who have different educational backgrounds, talents, and perspectives is very challenging. Managers must understand, predict and control the people.

Structure Organizational structure is a system which allows the provision of the division, grouping, and coordination of various activities within the organization. It provides an outline of the tasks which shall be completed by individuals and groups. The organizational design and structure is considered a key shaping force of the organizational behavior.

Structure Because of the high degree of importance which is placed upon organizational structure, many firms in today’s time are already veering away from the traditional forms of management. Many firms are now using a structure and design which is organic or adaptive. The use of such organizational structure gives flexibility and more dynamic.

Structure Organic organization has greater flexibility towards management ot the behavior of the workforce. Organizational behavior, such as the turnover satisfaction, and performance of the workforce is greatly influenced by its structure. In an organic or adaptive organization, the level of employee satisfaction is higher. The satisfaction is higher because of a greater degree of responsiveness with what is needed rather than being stable regardless of the work environment.

Structure On the other hand, in an organization structure which have rigid policies on who and where to report, this leads the workforce into the feeling that they are not trusted because they are not involved. In such organizational structure, employees demonstrate low quality of work and low degree of productivity because there is a failure from the management to provide an organizational design which clearly outlines their responsibilities and hierarchy.

Structure It is important to create an organizational structure that makes the organizations more effective through a behavior which can be expected to result into high quality of outputs.

Technology Technology provides resources with which people work and affect the tasks that they perform. The use of technology is often overlooked component of organizational behavior. Employees within a company may exhibit the organizational behavior of communicating primarily via email while employees in another organizations prefer a face-to-face communication.

Technology Technology affects organizational behavior to increasingly allow employees to work from home. It brings together people separated geographically through the use of teleconferencing. It has a significant influence on work relationships affecting organizational behavior.

Environment All organizations operate within an internal and an external environment. An organization is a part of a larger system. Numerous changes in the environment create demands on organizations. The environmental influences on organizational behavior can come from both internal and external sources.

Environment The internal environment of an organization affects organizational behavior. A struggling school has different organizational behavior than a successful and growing school. Employees’ perceptions of how their school is viewed by the local community can impact behavior.

The interaction of people, structure, Technology, and environment determines the organizational behavior of the organization
