Christina Gonzalez (born December 21, 1987) is a Jamaican dancer, choreographer and dance teacher.
Gonzalez was born in St. Ann, Jamaica to mother Champayne and father Christopher Gonzalez. Her father being a
world renowned visual artist and her mother a dancer and fitness instructor made for the perfect nurturing
environment for the appreciation of Jamaican art, culture and way of life.
In 2005 Christina enrolled at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts where she pursued a
diploma in Dance Theatre and Production. She is formerly trained in genres encompassing West African folk,
Jamaican traditional folk, ballet, Cuban modern, Cunningham, Martha graham, and self-trained in Jamaican
popular culture dance-hall. In addition to her diploma which was awarded with distinction, she received ‘the Rex
Nettleford Award for the Most Outstanding Choreography Student’ of her year group.
As a choreographer Christina has worked with various commercial companies in Jamaica. Coordinating and
choreographing dancers to be thusly aired via television in either music videos and/or advertisements. She has
also worked with Pulse Jamaica fashion models, training them in dance fitness and coordinating dance routines for
the Pulse Model Search final productions.
Christina is the founder and owner of the Dance A lot Kids’ Club (D.A.C) A children’s dance program located in
Ocho Rios, Jamaica which focuses on dance as an extracurricular activity.
Christina has worked with recording artiste Cherine Anderson finding dancers, organizing rehearsals and
choreographing. She has done so for several live stage performances including music videos. She is the
choreographer and one of the main dancers of Cherine’s “Haffi Come Back” music video. To add to her resume is
the likes of Robert Livingston of Big yard; filling the role of performer and assistant choreographer for Richie Loop
(dancehall artiste). Other personalities that she has graced the performance arena with include Beres Hammond,
Taurus Riley, Richie Loop, Danielle (D.I.), Christopher Martin, Skinny Fabulous, Tiffa, and Sean Paul. Gonzalez was
selected by international choreographer Tanisha Scot to be a featured dancer in Sean Paul’s “Roll wid the Don”
music video.
She has also worked with celebrated Jamaican video directors Gareth Cobran, Renais Marshall, Jay Will, Dexter
Pottinger, Kimala Bennett and the list goes on.
More recently Christina was selected as a featured dancer for Nick Canon’s “King of the Dancehall” movie shot in
Kingston Jamaica and featuring other celebrities such as Busta Rhymes, Kreesha Turner, Whoopi Goldburg, Louis
Gossett, Collie Buddz and Kymani Marley. The routines were choreographed by international choreographer Jae
Blaze.
