Issues
Contractor’s progress is behind the schedule.
Contractor is not following the works according to the work programmes(Daily/ weekly). Therefore,
more attention shall be paid to the followings,
•Contractor shall start more pipe laying sections
•Excavation works of Ground Reservoir is not finished
•Construction of Moragasmullapump house
Lack of Labourforce & the required resources
•Pipe laying teams
•Formwork teams of the ground reservoir
Bridge crossing Construction works are not in progress since Mid of Feb 2022.

21. 1.Progress of the Construction of Pipe bridge at Kiththmpahuwa Canal (Kalupalama) at Ch. 7+875 is very
slow (long time is taken for casting one pile of the pipe bridge).
2.Approval for the changed pipe trace under RDA Bridge “Kalyani Piwisuma” is to be taken from RDA (@
CH. 8+800).
3.Contractor shall take necessary actions to complete pressure testing works of section 01 of the Pipeline
trace (Ch. 0+118 –Ch. 1+100)
4.The Contractor shall complete the balance works of pressure tested sections in order to hand them over
to RDA. (Ch.4+320 –Ch. 5+097 & Ch. 6+597 –Ch. 7+278)
5.Contractor shall attend often for the maintenance of Sedawatta road (temporary reinstated area).
6.Road full overlay is required by Contractor from Ch.4+320 to Ch. 4+470 & from Ch. 4+985 to Ch. 5+050.
7.Difficulty in the finding of repair materials for Cast Iron (CI) distribution mains (OD 262mm).

27. 1.The performance of the Contractor has been improved up to some extent after assigning of new project
Manager. The Contractor shall provide more resources to speed up the progress.
2.Final proposal of Electrical Installation Sub Contractor is not submitted.
3. Reservoir Construction
Construction works are ongoing. The Contractor shall provide more resources to improve the
progress. The Contractor shall complete the concreting works of the sump area of the reservoir
before the rainy season is started.
4. Construction of five-storied staff accommodation building and two-storied Control Building
Contractor is still unable to complete and hand over the building to NWSDB. The new deadline of
building handover is the First week of April 2022.

5. Backwash recovery and Sludge treatment Plant (BR&STP)
Piling work of the structure to be started. The contractor shall speed up the constructions
works in order to complete the structures.
Contract has not opened LC for the approved machinery and equipment for BR&STP.
6. Modification in Intake Structure
Activities under intake structures are not yet completed. The progress of Intake
modification works is very slow.
7. Other issues
Progress of the Civil Sub Contractor is not satisfactory.
Lack of Supervisory staff.
No proper yard facilities and no adequate storage facility to store the materials.
Design of Medium voltage panel to be finalized.
