LITERARY ELEMENTS CHARACTER SETTING PLOT THEME

SETTING The time, place and circumstances in which a story is told are referred to as the setting of literature. In shaping the mood, the atmosphere, and the overall tone of the work, it provides the backdrop against which the events of the story unfold. It can be an actual or imagined setting, which means that readers are often transported to other worlds, time periods and environments .

SETTING TYPES OF BACKDROP SETTING TEMPORAL SETTING E NVIRONMENTAL SETTING -  an element that helps the reader grasp all the information of a setting, even though it does not affect the storyline or plot . A backdrop setting is commonly vague and simple, allowing the reader to use their imagination for the setting details . - an important aspect of a story as it  describes the time or era that the story takes place in . The temporal setting is very general as it is simply the general time and place where all the action unfolds in a story. - the descriptive information that portrays or captures various aspects of the existing environmental condition within an area including existing burdens relating to the environment and public health .

LITERARY ELEMENTS CHARACTER SETTING PLOT THEME

PLOT - The structure of the story is what organizes it and makes its meaning. The story`s the driving force behind our narrative and helps us to create characters, themes, and conflicts within it. In addition, the plot allows readers to better understand character personalities, motivations and relationships that allow them to gain an understanding of events and feelings in a story.

COMPONENTS PLOT

  - This is where the story begins. These stories contain information about characters, setting, plot, and other information that helps tell the story or theme. EXPOSITION

- The series of events that take place after the exposition and before the climax of a story are referred to in literature as rising action. It's the part of the story that's building up to the main conflict or problem, and it's helping to create tension and suspense in the story. In increasing action, obstacles, complications and difficulties that a protagonist must confront in order to reach their destination or end the main conflict are frequently introduced. RISING ACTION

CLIMAX - The climax of a story is, in literature, the most intense and critical moment, often the turning point where the main conflict reaches its peak. That's where the stakes are highest, where the outcome of the story is most uncertain. The climax is usually the most exciting and suspenseful part of the story, since it brings the story to a boiling point before it's resolved .

FALLING ACTION - In literature, the falling action of events that follows the climax and leads to the resolution of the story. It's a part of the story where the main conflict begins to be resolved, and characters are working on resolving issues that have arisen throughout the course of the story. The falling scene serves as a bridge between the intense emotional climax and the ending of the story, helping to bring it to its satisfying conclusion.

- In literature, the resolution, also known as the denouement, is the final part of the story that provides closure and completion to the narrative. It is the part of the story that follows the climax and falling action, where any remaining loose ends are tied up, and the main conflict is resolved. The resolution is often the best part of a story, as it makes audiences feel emotionally satisfied and relieved. It's a way to end the arcs of characters, resolving their personal journeys and emotional struggles. The resolution may also give closure to the bigger themes and messages of the story, providing an audience with a sense of understanding and perspective . RESOLUTION

THEME - Themes in literature are ideas, messages or concepts that have been developed and investigated during the course of a story or tale. These themes are a lens through which the audience is able to experience stories, providing depth, meaning and emotional resonance. Themes may be explicit, meaning that they are explicitly or implicitly mentioned or discussed in the narrative, or that they are suggested or implied by the characters, events or settings . Love, loss, redemption, identity, morality and humanity are some of the major themes found in literature .
