He gave the administration to Antonio as he was immersed in secret studies. Antonio became ambitious, conspired with the King of Naples, promising to pay annual tribute. A treacherous army was levied, gates of Milan were opened at night to conduct Prospero and Miranda out of the city. Taken out to sea, put aboard a rotten carcass, left at the mercy of sea and the wind . A kind Neapolitan Gonzalo helped him. By divine providence they reached the island.

[5] Analytical Question Points to be mentioned: Miranda listens to the tale with rapt attention. She was full of wonder and disbelief that a real brother was treacherous. She feels sorry for her father, says she must have been a burden for him, she could not do anything to help him . She feels grateful to Gonzalo. Prospero was preparing her for the subsequent events. He had plans for Miranda and Ferdinand. Miranda was repeatedly asking him why he had been so cruel hence he narrates the tale.

He was a scholar but displayed irresponsibility. Had great love and concern for Miranda. He is a good planner, keeps things in control. The prime Duke –respected and loved by all. Under him Milan was the foremost state in all of Italy. He was compassionate and considerate.
