4 th generation of computer Reporters: Payson, Adelyn Palevino , April Semilla , Lea Marie
Objectives: At the end of the lesson the student should be able to: Identify the history of the 4 th generation of the computer. Define the 4 th generation of the computer. Identify the advantages and weaknesses of the 4 th generation of the computer.
The inventor of the 4 th generation of computer
The First Microprocessor Was First Introduced In 1971 By Intel, Invented By Their Employee Ted Hoff. They Named It The Intel 4004; The Firs Computer On A Chip. These Chips Made It Possible For Computers To Fit On A Desktop.
4 th generation of computers history In 1971 , intel release the 4004 microprocessor and the 4 th generation of computers had begun. Magnetic core memories were replaced by semiconductor memories . These computers used the (VSLI) technology or the very large scale integrated circuits technology . Therefore they were also known as the microprocessors. Intel was the first company to develop a microprocessor. Some examples of computers are: IBM 4341, DEC VAX-11, Apple Macintosh, and Commodore Amiga. These computers had better performance, more memory, and user friendly features compared to earlier generations.

features Microprocessor based system that uses very large scale integrated (VSLI) circuits. Microcomputer became the cheapest at this generation. hand-held computer devices became more popular and affordable. Networking between the systems was developed and became of everyday used of this generation. Storage of memory and other storage devices has increased in a big amount. Outputs are now more reliable and accurate. Processing more power or speed has increase enormously. With increment in the capacity of the storage systems large programs were started to be used. Great improvement in the hardware help great improvement in the output in screen paper and etc. Size of the computer devices became such small that even desktop computers were easily movable along with portable computers such as laptops and etc.
The production for commercial as well as personal was easier and cheaper. General purposes. Larger storage capacity than third generation computers. almost all high level programming languages were supported in the 4 th generation computers. These computers were faster and reliable than their predecessors. It is compact in size and could easily fit on desk. The fourth-generation computers were somewhat cheaper than the previous generations computers. These computers were more energy, efficient than third-generation computers, and the heat produced was almost negligible. In this generation, the air conditioning system for the computer was not very much needed. Advantages
weaknesses The construction of VLSI circuits required highly sophisticated technology. Fourth- generation computers require fans to cool the internal components, the fans generated disturbing noises when in usage. Complex microprocessors and required high technical skills. Fourth- generation computers still used integrated circuits and hence advanced technology was needed to make them. Computers were highly sophisticated.
