The Story of the Nun & the Priest

A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand.

But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak." Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way.

On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

If you spend 1 hour a day for 5 years on a specific subject you can be an expert subject. I commit myself to learn how to lead. When you increase capacity something beautiful to happen. Capacity increases. And we begin to be much better much more effective.

Organizational Culture Culture – is much more important than vision Vision – is what we see in the future Culture is behavior. It is what we do and how we behave determines what we are going to do and what we will accomplish.

5 Levels of Leadership people follow us because they have to . Key word is rights . As a leader we have rights and privileges, and this is why people follow us. Is the starting stage Though you a position it does not mean you are a good leader. They follow you because they have no choice. That is how the keep their job. The position does not make a leader, but the leaders makes the position. Position.

Disadvantages: they will begin to give you very little energy and effort. They begin to ask this question: What’s the least that I have to do to keep my job. They keep on falling back and withhold energy, and effort from you. They would do as little as possible; They will never give you your best. It’s a wonderful place to start but a terrible place to stay. It’s lonely at the top.

Disadvantages: If you think leadership is a position or title , you wont grow.     Adage: He that he thinks that he lead us and no body is following him has only taken a walk.

2. Permission Level People do not how much you know until you know how much to care for them.

2. Permission Level When the leader go back to the top, they are bringing people with them. If you want speed don’t lead just run by yourself. But leaders, take people with them so when he crosses the finish line he has people with him. We said we cross the finish line.

These are the followers question: 1. Do you care for me? Who wants to follow a leader that doesn’t care and value the people Compassion

Confidence 2. Can you help me? If follow will I get better? Will I go to a higher level?

Character 3. Can I trust you? If I follow you are going to lead with me and mine? Or are you going to manipulate me to you own advantage?

How do you become an effective Level 2 Leader? Listen well – To be an effective leader is an effective listener. How do you connect with people by finding where they are. Leader listens, learn and then they lead. Great leaders get most of their leadership cues from listening. If you help people get what they want they will help you get what you want. How do you know what people want?( If you ask question.)

How do you become an effective Level 2 Leader? Difference between management and leadership. Management looks at people and said: I gonna manage you the same. They don’t take consideration( passion, dreams, temperament) People before they lead has to find the key and questions are the key that unlocks the door of opportunity in leadership.

How do you become an effective Level 2 Leader? 2. They observe. Just observe and watch people. They know that behavior tells about the individual. A good basketball coach said(John Wood) : Don’t tell what you gonna do just show me what you gonna do. Example when they have a practice he just observed how the players shoot and he said has a spot on the floor. Identify the spot where you do good. Observe the people, listen their people well and they serve their people well.

3. Serve - leaders understand the value of serving. Leader 1 level people should serve him. People give you permission to lead them because you connect with them and they like you and you like them and you connect together now. How do you become an effective Level 2 Leader?

Don’t work for me. I don’t have slaves. I work with you. You help me I help you. We don’t care about positions we care about exceeding expectations and how do we achieve them. We work together. Leadership connects to the people, work with the people and bring the people with them. How do you become an effective Level 2 Leader?

3. Production 3.Production – key word is RESULTS . People follow us because of what we have done for the organization. Leaders here develop credibility. Until you are successful yourself until you produce yourself people do not have reason not to follow you. It is impossible to help others if you yourself is not successful. You could not give if you don’t have.

3. Production Level 3 is to gain credibility. Leader has proven himself to be a producer. They bring results. The moment That you become productive now you have the credibility to lead others. Your credibility doesn’t come out of title and position, your credibility comes out because you are successful.

Three things people consistently do in this level. Lead by example – people do what people see. We learn by what they see or observe from somebody. People need visual example if they want to be successful and you need to that visual leader. People want to see in you. Many leaders are like travel agents. They sent people where they never been themselves.

2. They create momentum. In this level momentum can be the part of the company and momentum lifts you to a higher level. Momentum is the leadership bestfriend . When you produce results that creates momentum and momentum is what we call the great exaggerator. When you have it everybody looks better where they really are. When they loose it everybody looks where they really are. Three things people consistently do in this level.

When you have momentum many things could happen. Example When you have momentum 80% of the problems are solved by momentum alone. When there is momentum more problems are solved easily. The greatest problem solver in your company is momentum. Example: Train moves in the tract with 5 foot can smash a wall. Train can smash walls and continue to move on. When train has no momentum even 1 inch block that train cant get started. A one inch problem can be a big problem. It is not the size the problem that’s the issue but he speed of your momentum. When leaders begin to create results, they begin to have momentum and they begin to smash problem that they have. When you have no productivity and no momentum even a 1 inch blocks becomes a big problem. Momentum knocks down problem.

3. Attract better people in the company. Better people applies because you are a good leader. The higher I go as a leader the better the people that go on me. If I am a 6 level, whom shall I attract, 3,4,5 levels. But if I am 7 level, I would attract 6, 5, and 4. Law of magnetism says we attract who we are not who we want. The better leader I am the better people I attract.

4. People Development People Development – key word is reproduction People follow you because of what you have done for them as part of the organization. When you start developing people, you make the people better, and they are grateful and they become a better person and they become a better leader. If you can develop people beautiful things will happen to you. When you develop people you go from addition to multiplication because once you develop leader you are not adding but you begin to multiply.

Three things to do well at level 4 Recruitment – level 4 leaders recruit well. To develop good people you have recruit good people. A coach said. John I am coaching good players and bad players. But I am a good coach at good players. People in an organization are coming in ang going out. Coming in ang going out. The question is who is coming In and going out. If people going out are of level 3 and 4 but 7 and 8 and coming in then there is no problem. To have a clear picture of what you are looking for . In recruitment , picture what a good leader is. If you do not have the clear picture of what kind of person you are going to recruit you don’t have no idea what what kind of person you are going to recruit.

2. Position people well - they really committed in putting people in the right place. 3. They equip well – A. I do it. – No integrity and credibility B. I do it with you – Now you watch me ‘ C. You do it and IM with you D. You do it. You do it not with me anymore C. You do it and someone is with you.

5. Pinnacle Pinnacle Level – Respect They follow you and what you represent. You never leave on the previous levels but build the foundation of your leadership. Developing a foundation. The higher you go and less people you have with you. You want take people as you go but others might be left behind. I have to lead them in their own level until I will bring to the next level.

When people follow you not because of your position but what to follow you are a good leader. Leadership is the ability to influence to people to follow you because you are a good leader. What do you do to make your company better? People answers: I empower, motivate them etc. First thing to do is work on yourselves. I should get better. What is the greatest challenge is leading me. If you think leadership is a position or title , you wont grow.

Adage: He that he thinks that he lead us and no body is following him has only taken a walk. Negative of position leader: Once people understand that they have no choice, they make a decision. And here is the decision: they will begin to give you very little energy and effort. They begin to ask this question: What’s the least that I have to do to keep my job. They keep on falling back and withhold energy, and effort from you.
