The cake is cut into 12 slices and you all eat one slice each. What fraction of the cake did you eat?    Answer:    1 / 12 Example 2:  You are having pizza with friends, the pizza is cut into 8 slices and you eat 3 slices. What fraction of pizza did you eat?    Answer:      3 / 8  Now imagine you have to pay for your fraction of the pizza.

10. FRACTIONS OF AN AMOUNT What is of 30?   The denominator tells us how many groups the number has been split into. In this case, 30 is split into 6 groups (30 ÷ 6). Each group has 5 in it
