You will describe something about
yourself in six words.

2. Materials
Pencils
5 by 8 index card

3. What is a memoir?
A memoir is a story about your life,
important moments that you want to share
with others that tell about what’s important
to you, what you value, and what you want
others to know.

4. Create a list of six words that describe what
is important to you, something that is
happening right now in your life, character
traits.

5. Write three 6-word memoirs
based on your list.
Examples:
–Asked to quiet down, spoke louder
–I never finish anything, except cake
–Endless summers, walking the beach together

6. Form a group of three
Share your 6-word memoirs
Choose one that best represents what is
going on in your life now

7. The Fun Stuff
Write your memoir on an index card.
Write your name on the back.
