POSSIBLE
REASONS FOR
NOSEBLEEDS
8
WHAT IS
Nosebleeds are typically not a cause for serious concern. Yet,
in some rare cases, however, they can be life-threatening too!
Local trauma is considered to be the most common cause of
nosebleeds. Besides, foreign bodies, nasal or sinus infections,
and prolonged inhalation of dry air can also cause
nosebleeds. However, because of the position of the nose
along with its high density of blood vessels, a lot of people
experience nosebleeds in their life.

PAGE 01
HERE ARE THE 8
POSSIBLE REASONS
FOR NOSEBLEEDS —
PAGE 02
1. DIRECT INJURY DUE TO
ACCIDENTS:
A direct accidental blow to the face may
damage the lining of a person’s nose and
due to that, it can cause bleeding from the
nose.
PAGE 03
2. SOME STRONG
IRRITANTS:
Long-term exposure to certain strong and
influential irritants that include smoke or
irritating fumes can sometimes damage the
nasal lining which results in nosebleeds.

3. TRAVELING IN THE
AIR:
Did you know that changes in altitude and
air pressure can often cause nasal blood
vessels to expand and contract? This is how
such disturbances can lead someone to
severe nosebleeds.
PAGE 05
4. DISEASE OF THE
LIVER:
Nalas bleeding is largely interconnected
with the health of the liver. So, liver disease
can easily interfere with blood clotting and
result in frequent or severe nosebleeds of a
person.

5. SOME
FOREIGN BODIES:
The use of some common foreign bodies
like beads, buttons, toy parts, pebbles,
candle wax, food, paper, cloth, metal pins,
dental applications, etc. might cause
nosebleeds.

6. RADIATION THERAPY OR
CHEMOTHERAPY:
Sometimes certain medical treatments that use powerful
chemicals might cause nasal bleeding. For instance,
Chemotherapy often lowers the number of platelets in
the blood and makes blood clotting more difficult, and
bleeding more common. So, as a result, a patient of
chemotherapy might experience nasal bleeding as a side
effect of the treatments.

7. ILLEGAL
DRUGS:
Exposure to some illegal drugs might lead someone
severe nasal bleeding which can sometimes turn out to
be life-threatening too. To be more specific, it can be
said that the regular use of cocaine or other nasally
ingested drugs can disturb the nasal lining and
therefore, cause severe nasal bleeding.

8. IRRITATION AND
INFLAMMATION:
Another major reason for nosebleeds is frequent
picking or blowing of the nose. It can any time lead a
person to severe nosebleeds.
Inflammation due to certain allergies or infections may
damage blood vessels in the nose which causes
nosebleeds.
