MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM Julia Cassandra DJ. Atienza

URETHRA 1 PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM -the tube that passes through the penis to the outside body which carries urine and sperm

PENIS PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM -sexual organ which the sperm are delivered into the female’s body containing erectile tissue causing ejaculation. 2

TESTES PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM -made up of coiled tubules producing male sex hormones called testosterone for the production of sperm 3

EPIDIDYMIS PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM -coiled J-shaped tube located in the back of each testicle that stores the sperm for 2-4 days after they have been produced 4

VAS DEFERENS PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM -tube that receives sperm from the epididymis of each testicle 5

SCROTUM PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM -pouch of skin which houses the testes and protects the sperm by keeping the temperature lower 6

THE GLANDS AND DUCTS vas deferens -a tube that is about 18 inches long that loops over the urinary bladder urethra -common tube where urine and semen passes

THE GLANDS AND DUCTS seminal vesicles -a pair of seminal vesicles that secrete a thick fluid that nourishes the sperm ejaculatory ducts -tubes that are lined with muscles contracting to force the semen out of the body

THE SPERM CELL The sperm cell is a unique structure located in the testis to fertilize the egg. Males have two testes found inside the scrotum and produces millions of sperm cells These then travels to the epididymis where they are temporarily stored until during ejaculation.

THE SPERM CELL These are also released and moved along the vas deferens. Along the way, the sperms combine with the nutrient secretions from the prostate gland and seminal vesicles. This mixture is called semen. The semen will be transported into the urethra and out of the penis.
