A NARROW ESCAPE.
Awakening up in a frost bitten and ice bound morning
that was cold as a corpse, as silent as a graveyard to the
extent that there was no any bird in the adjacent tree
which used to chirrup as they warbled every chilly
morning of each day, I smelt a rat, trouble hang in the
horizon . It was such terrible and furious taste of the
callousness of the world that I had ever had. I had been
troubled all the night long with a nightmare that gripped
me in the middle of the wee hours of dead night. But by
putting my exiguous portal of my abode lentitudly as a
snail, ajar on tenterhooks, the first thing my sloe eyes
glimpsed at, was a huge cluster of thuds fierce as hungry
lions. I was fixed onto the spot. Frozen to the ground due
to the chill of fear that run down my spine knowing that I
was high and dry. I had fell into hot waters.
Back to my consciousness, I found a gigantic blazing man
besides me.” Can you stand up and we go?” he thundered
in a husky and raucous voice. May you do I a favor and
tell me who you are and what has brought you here as
early as such? I intrepidly posed an insurrection question
to the group of thugs that stood in front of my spacious
domicile. The question trigged my memory to the
spectacular dream I had that very night.

In the middle of the dead night, in wee hours, I was
engrossed in arms of Morpheus then the dream that left
me perplexed and bamboozled the rest of the night befell
on me. It deprived me of sweetest thing that wipes off my
brain’s tiresome thoughts of the day and brought me
insomnia. I dreamt that people rose against me in
judgment for picking to pieces their various religions and
the beliefs of many traditions encouraging the people to
abandon them and go by the book in accordance with the
holy scriptures of the holy Bible. Most especially
condemning the circumscion of girls among the Sebie of
North Eastern Uganda and boys among the Bagisu along
the slopes of Mountain Elgon and marrying of many
wives plus torturing and seeing them as sex and material
objects thus depriving of them their fundamental rights as
human beings in the façade of exercising authority as
men. And that they had planned to abduct and torture me
till I could apologize to them and stop all my Christianity
campaigns I had started in their area.
On remembering that, I grew as timid as a mouse with my
heart in the mouth that even blood drained from my face.
I stood roasted to the ground, speechless like a tomb for
half an hour if I can tell. But not certain. My thoughts for
all that period, lingered that I came to realize that this was
just a test of my faith in my savior.” Do not be afraid nor

weary for who promised is faithful and is able to do
exceedingly and abundantly above all your thoughts and
works.” I had in my spirit. Thus I got to be intrepid and
courageous and trust in my rock Jesus Christ to see his
helping hand. I fabricated to stand on faith grounds. It was
a gut reaction that I boasted saying that:” who is in me is
greater than who is in you and that my help is in the name
of Jesus Christ.”
Hahahahahaaa! They deridiously scorned my declaration.
As they curtailed their mock at me, their long awaited
leader arrived. He was tyranny, superalious and
pugnacious in his appearance. Filled with dudgeon and
acerbity, he vituperated me in a husky raucous voice,
flogged me with avidity putting manacles on my arms.
In the nick of a time, I had a brusque bang on my gate that
shifted and glued every one’s attention to the gate’s
portal.” Go and see who is on that gate” the thug’s
commander ordered one of his counterparts.
On opening the gate, two, double cabin four wheel cars
entered into the divan compound of mine. The cars had
soldiers on top and out of them, came my two brothers.
Seeming not astonished of what hell I was, they ordered
the arrest of each and every thug that was in my
compound. I was untied from the hand cuffs.

I absorbed the trauma, swallowing the acute pain,
grunting as I shifted, trying to keep my ankles from
paining me. The throbbing pain in my thing was searing
racing through my enormous right shoulder. Every jostle
sent ripples of pain through my shoulder. Blood oozed
from every spot on my bruised turgid body.
The once superalious and cruel as death thugs that had left
me in a close fisted state, trembled as a chameleon on a
feeble twig of a tree. They were like a cat on hot bricks
and as cautious as a fox, it was now the day of their
reckoning as they had also told me before. I remembered
what Jesus said and the rest of some apostles in the Bible:
“one reaps what he sows”.
Tears of joy streamed down my cheecks as I witnessed
the confoundment of the evil ones. I exalted my LORD
for the rescue of my soul from the teeth of death. He had
turned the table tables. It was by a close shave that I
escape from the horns of dilemma. And the excruciating
pain and gruesome agony that shoot directly to my brain
till this moment.
The two brothers of mine serve as soldiers in the
intelligence department of Uganda People’s Defense
Forces and so being had already received information that
I was going to be attacked for laying down the law in my
preaching. Thus coming to my rescue by leaps and

bounds and most important making my foes’ devilish
plots against me down the drain and bringing them to
their knees hence eating a humble pie pleading for a
pardon from me. At first I had thought that my apostolic
missions were on their last legs but this was just the
beginning as for my trust in the almighty God grew
stronger and stronger since then.
They were incarcerated in Luzira prison though I forgave
them and never followed up the case. I embarked on
spreading the gospel without fear or favor till this day.
I can’t forget the most memorable narrow escape in my
life. It was a heart rending experience that left my fingers
burnt but I had to face the music for crossing the
Rubricon in bugging the hell with my preaching of
Christianity as opposed to local traditions and beliefs but
God delivered me and I committed to memory the
afflatus, by the skin of my teeth escape from death.
