A. CHILDREN’S SONGS 1. IDA-IDA A WATA can be any of the following: school songs, game songs, humorous songs, or invitation songs. Example: POKPOK LIMPAKO AND ARIMOANGA , a song about begging to let go of the moon.
A. CHILDREN’S SONGS 2. KADIDAO SA WATA Maranao version of the lullaby. Mostly uses figures of speech, such as simile and metaphor, and contains lyrics that express praises for a child.
A. CHILDREN’S SONGS 3. DINGENDE a Maguindanao song used for scolding a misbehaved child. Its lyrics give out a warning of an unpleasant future when the child continues to be obedient.
B. RELIGIOUS SONGS 1. KANDOMANA a Maranao song that originated from the religious stories of the kisa and folk songs. The text of the song takes the form of narrative prose and occasional poetry. TWO FORMS: KISA - used in singing religious texts DOMANA - singing indigenous texts.
B. RELIGIOUS SONGS 2. LUGU MAULOD a Tausug song that honors the life of Mohammad , the Muslim prophet. It is composed of the following parts: JANITLA - prose section JIKIL (poetry section) PALI (IMPROVISED PARTS)
B. RELIGIOUS SONGS 3. Maguindanaoan Chants A. Bang - a call to prayer B. Fatiha - a portion of the main body of prayers. C. lasib - a chant performed at the end of the service.
C. RITUAL SONGS 1. KARAWATIB An Islamic creed from Maranao chanted during kapamagrowak , a day of commemoration of the dead. It is also performed during death anniversaries and wakes.
C. RITUAL SONGS 2. IDAIDA A RONGGARING The Maranao love and marriage song. Mamayog - sung as a form of woman’s endearment for her lover Tongkapan - about one-sided love affair. Igvia Pokegaki - tells about a man’s thoughts of his beloved at twilight.
D. EPIC SONGS 1. RADIA INDARAPATRA a legendary epic from Maranao that narrates the story of Radia Indarapatra , a brave prince that traveled to kingdoms and fought giants. 2. DARANGEN a Maranao epic that tells about the adventures of Prince Bantugan Commonly chanted for passing-on of the traditional belief and practice to younger Maranao generations.

ARCHITECTURE Also known as majid , and serves as the main structure where the Muslims perform their worship and prayers. MOSQUE It is characterized with a circular-shaped dome called a qubba and towers known as minarets.
It was built in 1380 and is declared as one of the National Treasures in the Philippines. SHEIK KARIM AL MAKDUM MOSQUE The oldest mosque built in the country.
Found in Cotabato City. GOLDEN MOSQUE The largest mosque in the country. It can accommodate approximately 1 000 worshippers at a time.
