PHASES OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE Presented by: Group IV
Puberty or adolescence is the stage of human growth and development in which a person becomes physically mature. It usually happens between the ages of 10 to 16 years old.
Menstruation is the monthly discharge of blood from the uterus through the vagina. Menarche is the first menstrual period in a female adolescent. It is an indication that the body is now capable of reproduction .
MENSTRUAL CYCLE
Phase 1: Menstrual Phase This is called the menstruation phase. It is the stage when a mature egg does not undergo fertilization. The thickened uterine lining (endometrium) broke-down and shed as menstruation.
Phase 2: Follicular Phase This phase begins when menstruation is over. It is a repair period for the uterine lining and development for an egg to mature.
Phase 3: Ovulation Phase A mature egg is released from the ovary and travels to the fallopian tube as it goes to the uterus. Usually, the egg survives within 24 to 48 hours.
It happens in the second part of your menstrual cycle. It begins around day 15 of a 28-day cycle and ends when you get your period. The luteal phase prepares your uterus for pregnancy by thickening your uterine lining. Phase 4: Luteal Phase
Menopause is the time in a woman's life when her periods (menstruation) stop. There are three stages of menopause: Perimenopause M enopause Postmenopause Menopause
