Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is defined as changes in frequency of menses, duration of flow or amount of blood loss.

Acute and Chronic AUB Acute uterine bleeding unrelated to pregnancy was defined in as “that which is sufficient in volume as to, in the opinion of the treating clinician, require urgent or emergent intervention.” (FIGO definition) Chronic: AUB present for most of the previous 6 months .
