Maharashtra.

individualSatyagrhiinanonviolentmovementin

VinobaBhavebecameknowntothewholecountry.
Heworked towardseliminatingsocial
inequities.HestartedtheSarvodayaMovement
whichmeant“Progreesforall”.
HealsocreatedtheBrahmaVidyaMandir
whichwasasmallcommunityofwomenenabling
themtobecomeself-sufficient.

Bhoodan Movement

Asimliedbythename,inthismovement,landlords
voluntarilygiveuplandtobedistributedto
landlesslabourers,whowouldthencultivatethe
land.
Thisisaimedatreducingthegapbetweenthe
richandthepoor.Here,thelanddonorsarenot
givesanycompensation.
In1954,hestartedtheGramdanmovement
whichinvolvedthevoluntarydonationofwhole
villages.
These movements attractedworldwide
admirationforbeingstellarexamplesofvoluntary
socialjustice.
