AD): The game evolved into "shatranj" with new
pieces.

Chess became popular among nobility and
clergy.
4. Modern Rules Emerged (19th-20th century
AD): Official chess clubs, tournaments, and
World Championships were established.
5. Computer Era ( Late 20th century-present):

Rook moves horizontally or vertically.
Bishop moves diagonally.
Knight moves in an “L” shape.
Pawn moves forward one square (two squares on the first move) and
captures diagonally.
Various types including classical, blitz, and bullet.
A king is in check if it is attacked, and the game ends when a checkmate
occurs.
