By admitting patients, hospital undertakes a high level of responsibility for the care & well being of the patients . 3. Based On Time Spent In Hospital In patient Admission – Patient stay more than 24 hours, receiving continuous medical care. Outpatient admission ( Day care) Admission – Patients undergoes minor procedure or treatment & discharge same day. Short term Admission – Patients stay for a brief period less than week for observation or treatment. PREPRATION OF ARTICLE 1. keeping the bed ready- • open the bed , spread the bedsheet, top blanket and top sheet. • Cover the bed with full bed- length Mackintosh and two pillows. 2. ADMISSION PROCEDURE Prepare the room, equipment and furniture with care & arrange all items in place & adjust height of bed . check the client’s identification & greet the client & relatives & introduce self. Observe the client vital signs & symptoms and measures heights & weight. check the physician order for any treatment measures that should be initiated immediately. provide privacy, give admission bath if needed & change to hospital cloth. ADMISSION PROCEDURE Obtain Base Line Assessment Level of consciousness – Alert, lethargic, drowsy, difficult to arouse, comatose. Vital Sign – Temperature, Pulse Rate, Blood Pressure, Respiration Respiratory Difficulties – Dyspnea, wheezing cough, shortness of breath, abnormal breath sound on auscultation. ADMISSION PROCEDURE Obtain Base Line Assessment 5) Condition of skin – Bruises, Abrasion, pressure areas, excessive dryness, surgical incision & wounds. 6) Prosthetic Devices- Hearing aid, glasses, contact lenses, dentures, braces, artificial limbs. 7) Other health problems & concern- Pain or discomfort, loss of function or loss of normal control of function, restricted movement or alteration in sensation MS. ROLE AND RESPONSBILITIES OF NURSE IN ADMISSION PROCEDURE Arrange patients unit. Greet the patients and orient to ward other patients ,patients room, equipment’s.
