To book a flight means to reserve your seat on a flight. It ' s always cheaper if you book a flight in advance. Booking a flight at the last minute can be expensive. T o book a flight

A company that provides travel by air is called an A irline . A irline

Economy - class T ickets are the cheapest tickets that airlines offer. Economy class seats are the smallest seats on the plane. E conomy - class T icket/ C oach T icket

Business - class T ickets are cheaper than first - class tickets but more expensive than economy - class tickets. Business class tickets have certain benefits that economy - class tickets do not, such as larger seats. B usiness - class T icket

First - class T ickets are the most expensive tickets that airlines offer. The seats of First - class ticket holders are in front of the plane and are much bigger than the other seats on the plane. F irst-class T icket

An A irport T ax is a tax paid by passengers for using the airport and its facilities . A irport T ax

C heck-in C ounter is where passengers go to get their boarding passes and check their bags in for the flight . C heck-in C ounter

I f a flight leaves at its scheduled time, the flight is said to be O n -T ime . O n- T ime If a flight leaves after its scheduled time, the flight is said to be D elayed . D elayed If a flight doesn ' t leave the airport after its scheduled time or is not accepting booking , th at flight is said to be C ancelled . C ancelled

Aisle S eats are the seats next to the aisle on the plane. A isle S eat Aisle : The A isle of the plane is the place between the rows of seats where people walk.

A M iddle S eat is the seat between the aisle seat and the window seat. Middle Seat

A B oarding P ass or boarding card provided by an airline during check-in, giving a passenge r an a uthority to board the airplane for a particular flight. I t must be show n at the boarding gate before boarding a plane. B oarding P ass

All the suitcases and bags that a traveler has with them on a trip is called L uggage . L uggage

Checked L uggage is the luggage , a passenger gives to the airline at the luggage drop-in or check-in counter . These bags are placed in the cargo hold of the plane and do not travel in the same section of the plane as the passengers. C hecked L uggage/ C hecked B ags

Carry - on L uggage is the luggage that passengers take on the plane along with them. C arry - on B ags/ C arry - on L uggage

The A rrival and D eparture S creen is a screen which shows the status of flights. It lists flights as on-time, delayed, or cancelled. (The arrival and departure screen is commonly called “the screen ” .) A rrival and D eparture S creen

Security is where passengers have their possessions checked before they get on to their flight. S ecurity

A N on-stop flight flies to its final destination without stopping. Eg: Toronto to Mumbai N on-stop flight

A D irect F light might stops before arriving at its final destination, but passengers do not have to change planes. D irect flight

A C onnecting F light stops at one airport and passengers must change planes to reach their destination . Eg: Toronto- Abudhabi- Thiruvananthapuram C onnecting flight

The term L ayover refers to the long stop (in hours) at an airport in order for passengers to change planes. Eg: Toronto- Abu Dhabi- Thiruvananthapuram We had a n eight -hour layover in Abu Dhabi . L ayover

The person who flies the plane is called the P ilot . Pilot/ Cockpit

Flight attendants are airline employees who help the passengers on board a flight. F light A ttendant / Cabin crew

When a plane leaves the ground, it is said to take off . T o take off

Turbulence is the disturbance in the motion of the flight due to strong wind s that causes an airplane to move and shake while in flight in air . T urbulence

To land means to touch the ground with its wheels, w hen a plane arrives at a destination. T o land

T he area of an airport where incoming passengers of a flight arrive at is called Arrival Hall . Arrival Hall
