GUIDED BY DR. AKHIL MEHROTRA

Constructed By Dr. Akhil Mehrotra Constructed In Year - 1996

Purpose To Measure Skill With Greater Neuromuscular Co-ordination Keeping In View The Progression In Game ‘Hockey’ Age 17-25 Years College Players

1- One Minute Angular Passing and Receiving test. 2- Rolling And Passing Test. 3- Dodging And Goal Shooting Test. Test Items

Purpose:- To measure passing and receiving ability. EQUIPMENTS HOCKEY STICK 7HOCKEY BALLS MEASURING TAPE STOP WATCH SMOOTH WOODEN BOARD ROPE LIME POWDER 1- One Minute Angular Passing And Receiving Test

ONE MINUTE ANGULAR PASSING AND RECIVING TEST Ground Marking A hockey goal post with back board was used and from the mid point M of the board, a line EH was drawn twelve feet parallel to the board. The points EFOGH were marked in such a way. The Point EFGH were marked in such the point F and G were two feet away either side from the mid point O and EF and GH were the extended lines. The lines joining EFGH through the point O were extended beyond the restraining line EF and GH. Three balls were placed, five feet further away from the point on two feet (three) resting ball lines.

One Minute Angular Passing And Receiving Test 12 feet 5 feet 2 feet 3 feet Resting balls Restraining line Starting line

Administration 1- The subject will stand at the restraining line. 2- On the signal “GO” he will start passing the ball approximately at one angle by using skill like hit, push and flick. 3- After passing the ball he ran and collected the rebound on the right or reverse side of the stick. 4- Then he pass the ball again and repeated the same skill up to one minutes. 5- If the subject missed the ball during one minutes period he collected another ball from resting ball line and continue same skill till one minute was completed.

Trial - 02 Time - 1 Minutes Scoring - The scores was counted as to how many times subject touched right and left passing area in one minutes. Two trials were given to each subject and the score of the best trial was recorded.

PURPOSE: - To measure the rolling and passing ability of the subject. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:- Hockey stick Seven hockey ball Fourteen flags (height 4 feet) Fourteen flags (height 2 feet) Angle marker Colour full flags(12”x12”) 2 - ROLLING AND PASSING TEST ITEM

ROLLING AND PASSING TEST Ground Marking A restricted square ABC and D three by three feet was marked and ‘O’ was the middle point of the square. EF of five feet instruction line was drawn parallel to the CD. The distance between CD and EF instruction line is seven feet. Another a rolling line GH of five feet was marked. At the distance of fifteen feet parallel from the instruction lime. From the midpoint ‘O’ four angles were marked at 90 , 60 , 30 and 15 at distance of forty feet on both right and left side from point ‘O’. Two flags of four feet height three feet apart and two flags of two feet height one feet apart both side of the main flags were fixed at different angles. These flags were of different colours starting from right i.e. Red, Blue, Green, White, Yellow, Black and Pink to visualize the difference. These flags were made of 12"×12" size. The seven hockey balls were kept at top of the Rolling line.

The subject will stand on starting line. On the signal ‘go’ he pick one ball and roll the ball up to instruction line. When he reaches near the instruction line the coach or tester call any colour flag by name. The player try to put in the ball between the same calling colour flag by using push or flick stroke. After putting the ball he ran back to the rolling line or starting line and repeated the same action till all the seven balls were completed. After putting the last ball the stopwatch stopped and counting the points was completed in the minimum time. ADMINISTRATION

TIME -1MINUTE TRIAL-2

PURPOSE- To measure the dodging and goal shooting accuracy ability of the subject. REQUIRED EQUIPMENTS ROPES FIVE HOCKEY STICKS STOPWATCH RIGHT ANGLE MARKER GROUND MARKING FLAG TEN HOCKEY BALLS SCORE SHEET LIME POWDER MEASURING TAPE 3 - DODGING AND GOAL SHOOTING TEST ITEM

DODGING AND GOAL SHOOTING TEST   Ground Marking Three shooting angle were marked at 90 , 60 and 30 on both is right and left side on the shooting circle and another doted circle four feet away but parallel to the inner shooting circle was drawn on a restricted area for taking the shot into the goal. Five flags were put on both the side in a same formation. The distance between shooting circle and flag was six feet and distance between flag and starting line was fifteen feet at each angle. The height of flags was four feet or five feet. Two hockey balls more be kept on the starting line AB was two feet. Goal was divided into four part. The two rope perpendicular joined by a horizontal cross bar. The distance between perpendicular inner side of the bar to rope was two feet both side and one rope joined the mid of the horizontal rope the distance between horizontal cross bar inner side to horizontal rope was two feet both side. The color of the rope was black or white and blue.

Cont…. A shooting at the centre of the goal area was by comparatively easy. So less credit was given for shooting at the middle and more credit was given for shooting at right or left. Upper extremes of the goal mouth one point was awarded for shooting at the lower part of middle and two point were awarded for shooting at the upper part of middle and three points were awarded for shooting at the extreme ends horizontal rope to bottom level on either side and four points were awarded for shooting at the upper corner cross bar and perpendicular bar on either side.

ADMINISTRATION On the signal ready subject stand on starting line. On the signal ‘GO’ he started ball control for right side by a dodging flag. When he reached the restricted area he took the shot at the good for maximum points used by any skill like hit, push, flick, scoop , etc. From right side above action he cover 30 ˚, 60˚,90˚. Same above action he covered from left side. On the signal ‘GO’ stopwatch started after shooting the ball stopwatch stopped and counting the maximum point was done in minimum time.

TIME -1MINUTE TRIAL-2 SCORING – TOTAL POINTS OF BEST WILL BE THE SCORE OF INDIVIDUAL.

Discussion The findings of the present study indicated that reliability coefficient obtained from the different tests ranged between 0.90 to 0.93. One minute passing and receiving test = 0.92, rolling and passing test = 0.93 and dodging and goal shooting test = 0.90. Hence all the tests were found to be highly reliable.

The objectivity coefficient of tests ranged from 0.91 to 0.96. Thus indicating that the hockey skill test was highly objective. The validity of the test as a whole was obtained by correlating the composite scores obtained by the subjects in all three tests with the playing ability of the subjects rated by the panel of three judges.
