OPS RELATED TO AMPH OP
Supporting Ops
•Ops conducted by forces other than those assigned to ATF
•Normally conducted outside the area
•Examples: Feints or demonstrations, isolation of the AOA, assisting in gaining or
maintaining air, ground, or naval supremacy, operations designed to secure
information
Pre-Assault Ops
•Ops conducted by an advance force prior to the arrival of the main body of the
ATF and the initiation of the assault phase in the AOA
•Examples/Purpose: Isolate the AOA/Prep AOA/Gain info of the enemy
•Functions of pre-assault forces include reconnaissance, minesweeping, naval
gunfire, airstrikes, underwater demolition and destruction of beach obstacles in the
local area of the assault

TheperiodduringwhichvariouselementsoftheATFmovefrompointsof
embarkationtotheAOA.Thisphaseofficiallybeginswhentheships
departportandterminatesuponarrivalintheAOA.Themovementplan
includesprescribedroutestotheobjectivearea,protectivemeasuresagainst
enemyattack,andscheduledstops(rehearsal,stagingorlogisticalareas)
