INTRODUCTION The term mushroom generally means a fungus but is commonly the fruiting body of some fungi which produce and disseminate spores. Like all other fungi, they lack Chlorophyll and thus cannot produce their own food. Edible fungi are commonly known as mushrooms. One of the most profitable agricultural businesses that one can start with little capital and little space required for mushroom growing. In India, mushroom farming is increasingly becoming more popular as as secondary source of income for many people.

IMPORTANCE OF MUSHROOM It has been suggested as a diet for persons with diabetes and high cholesterol issues due to its high nutritional value, low-carbohydrate and fat content. Per 100 g of mushrooms, there are around 3.1 g of proteins. For people with heart problems, mushrooms are likely sine and tryptophan's best source of amino acids. These are a great source of vitamins like pantothenic acid, B12, B1, B2, C.

MARKETING Market Share Paralakhemundi market gets mushrooms from Berhampur, Chatrapur and other villages surrounding Paralakhemundi where mushroom cultivation is done. We have met one farmer of mushroom cultivation and five middlemen those who buy mushrooms at a low cost and sell at a minute high cost. In Paralakhemundi , button mushrooms and paddy straw mushrooms are available. The demand for mushrooms is growing positively due to their taste and as an alternative for protein for vegetarians. Inside the campus as well as in Paralakhemundi , the demand for Paddy straw mushrooms is much higher than the Oyster mushroom.

MARKETING Customer Satisfaction They like the quality of mushrooms. The customers of rural haat mostly liked the value-added products like mushroom pakora, Mushroom Spring Rolls etc. The customers don’t get any spoiled products till now. Customer Retention They are doing advertisements through mail id They distribute pamphlets during rural haat , kisan mela They keep social media updates to cover up a large number of people They are keeping combo offers to attract the customer They used to make value-added products that people like.

MARKETING Product Quality & Service Quality I mplementation effect is the most important which refers to be the actual implementation of quality and safety rules by practitioners of the edible fungus industry. In order to provide consumers safety, edible fungus products create a social environment of food quality. MARKETING Distribution Effectiveness The Products are distributed in Paralakhemundi Market Inside the Campus Rural haat Krishi melas Campus canteen, Dhaba, Restaurant.

MARKETING Promotion Effectiveness The Mushroom unit has their mail id to promote their products through the mail. They participate in various exhibitions and Krishi mela through which promotion is done. They create their own leaflet which they distribute for promotion. They Propose a combo pack offer to attract people. They provide trainings to outside farmers.

MARKETING Innovation Effectiveness Innovation is defined introduced a new process or technology to achieve better results. In the unit , a Pilot project is going on which is the cultivation of Cordyceps Mushroom . Cordyceps is used to treat coughs, chronic bronchitis, respiratory disorders, kidney disorders,anemia , irregular heartbeat,high cholesterol,liver disorders, dizziness, weakness, ringing in the ears and unwanted weight loss.

MANUFACTURING/PRODUCTION Facilities The unit have all facilities to grow mushrooms. The Raw materials are provided in time. There are Bamboo racks,plastic bags,Dark room, Laboratory, Fogger setup, Chaff cutter, Weighing Machine etc. Economies of scale By producing mushrooms in bulk, They can leverage cost advantages in terms of procurement, production, and distribution. This allows them to offer competitive prices to their customers while maintaining high product quality. Furthermore, their scale enables us to invest in advanced technology and infrastructure, optimizing efficiency and further enhancing their cost advantages.

MANUFACTURING/PRODUCTION Capacity & workforce There is a land of 500 sq.metre,Mushroom growing shed of 600 sq metre,4 Tanks of each 12 sq.Metre.4 Kitchen Gardens,1 shade net,1 store Room,1 growth Chamber. There are 14 Interns,1 Skilled supervisor and 1 semi-skilled supervisor.

ORGANIZATION Visonary , Capable Leadership The unit in charge is Dr. Siddhartha Das. Under his leadership, the unit is running. There are various supervisors to look after the unit. The AELP students have a big responsibility to maintain the unit.
