Triceps muscle
•Origin:
•Longhead:fromtheinfraglenoidtubercleofthescapula.
•Lateralhead:fromtheupperhalfoftheposteriorsurfaceof
theshaftofthehumerus.
•Medialhead:fromthelowerhalfoftheposteriorsurfaceof
theshaftofthehumerus
•Insertion:
•Intotheuppersurfaceoftheolecranonprocessoftheulna.
•NerveSupply:
•Fromtheradialnerve.
•Action:
•Extensionoftheforearmattheelbowjoint.

Radial Nerve
•Theoriginoftheradialnervefromtheposterior
cordofthebrachialplexusintheaxilla.
•Thenervewindsaroundthebackofthearminthe
spiralgroove.
•Inthespiralgroove,thenerveisaccompaniedby
theprofundavessels,anditliesdirectlyincontact
withtheshaftofthehumerus.
•Itpiercesthelateralfascialseptumabovethe
elbowandcontinuesdownwardintothecubital
fossainfrontoftheelbow,betweenthebrachialis
andthebrachioradialismuscles.

RADIAL NERVE

Branches of the radial nerve
Intheaxilla,
•Muscularbranchestothelongandmedialheadsofthe
triceps
•Posteriorcutaneousnerveofthearm.
Inthespiralgroove
•Muscularbranchestothelateralandmedialheadsofthe
tricepsandtotheanconeusmuscle.
•Thelowerlateralcutaneousnerveofthearm
•Theposteriorcutaneousnerveoftheforearm.
Intheanteriorcompartmentofthearm
•Muscularbranchestothebrachialis,thebrachioradialis,
andtheextensorcarpiradialislongusmuscles.
•Articularbranchestotheelbowjoint.

Ulnar Nerve
•Itisabranchofthemedialcordofthebrachialplexus
•Itpiercesthemedialfascialseptumanddescends
behindtheseptum,coveredposteriorlybythemedial
headofthetriceps.
•Thenerveisaccompaniedbythesuperiorulnar
collateralvessels.
•Attheelbow,itliesbehindthemedialepicondyleof
thehumerus.
•Itcontinuesdownwardtoentertheforearmbetween
thetwoheadsoforiginoftheflexorcarpiulnaris
Branches
•Theulnarnervehasanarticularbranchtotheelbow
joint

Profunda Brachii Artery
•Theprofundabrachiiarteryarisesfromthe
brachialarterynearitsorigin.
•Itaccompaniestheradialnervethroughthespiral
groove,suppliesthetricepsmuscle,andtakespart
intheanastomosisaroundtheelbowjoint.
•SuperiorandInferiorUlnarCollateralArteries
•Thesuperiorandinferiorulnarcollateralarteries
arisefromthebrachialarteryandtakepartinthe
anastomosisaroundtheelbowjoint.
