ANTOMY ON SCROTUM

INTRODUCTION Cutaneous bag having the right and left testis ,epididymis and spermatic cords Scrotum divided into right and left parts by a ridge Scrotum become short, and closely applied to the testis in the influence of cold . This is due to contraction of sub cutaneous muscle of scrotum. Ie called dartos . In warm condition scrotum becomes elongated and flaccid due to relaxation of dartos . From this we can understand dartos muscle regulates the temperature within the scrotum Left half of the scrotum hangs a little lower then the right in corresponds to greater length of the left spermatic cord

Interior of scrotum

LAYERS OF SCROTUM Skin Dartos muscle The external spermatic fascia Cremasteric muscle Internal spermatic fascia

Dissected view of scrotum with layers

Arterial supply Superficial external pudendal artery Deep external pudendal artery Internal pudendal artery Inferior epigastric artery

Venous supply External pudendal vein Perineal vessels

Superficial inguinal lymph nodes. Para –aortic nodes Lymphatic drainage

Nervous supply Anterior 1/3rd of the scrotum is supplied by l1 of spinal spinal cord from ilioinguinal nerve Posterior 2/3 rd is by S3 through posterior scrotal branches of pudendal nerve Genitofemoral nerve is for dartos muscle.

Nerve supply

Applied anatomy Hydrocoele – condition in which fluid accumulation in sac around the testicle varicocoele – enalargement of veins in scrotum spermatocoele - abnormal cystic swelling of on testis or the epidymis Epididymitis – inflammation of epididymis .

Hydrocele varicocele Spermatocele
