4. Definition Anemia is defined as quantitative or qualitative deficiency of Haemoglobin for that particular age and sex. Grade 1: (Mild Anemia): 10 g/dl Grade 2: (Moderate Anemia): 7-10 g/dl Grade 3: (Severe Anemia): below 7 g/dl

5. Classification A) Microcytic Anemia: (MCV < 76 fl) B) Macrocytic Anaemia : (MCV > 102fl) C) Normocytic Anaemia : (MCV Normal 78–102 fl)

6. Clinical features Symptoms: Shortness of breath, diziness , Palpitaions , Tiredness Signs: Brittle nails,Koilonychia (spoon shaped nails ) Atrophy of the papillae of the tongue, Angular Stomatitis,Brittle hair, Dysphagia and Glossitis in Plummer vinson Syndrome / kelly patterson Syndrome ( Dysphagia with Iron Deficiency Anaemia )
