1. ANIL AMBANI
Anil Dhirubhai Ambani is the chairman of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group which is one of the
India’s biggest conglomerates. Belonging to one of the wealthiest families in India, Anil has
also ranked amongst the world’s richest people through the exhibit of his extraordinary
entrepreneurial skills.
PERSONAL LIFE
Ambani was born on 4th June 1959 in Mumbai, India. He received his bachelor’s degree
from the University of Mumbai and he did his Master’s in Business Administration from the
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After the death of his father, he inherited
along with his brother Mukesh Ambani, the empire that was built by the import of synthetic
fibre for the substitute of cotton. Anil got in his share, the responsibilities of entertainment,
energy and telecom sectors. Since then a feud has risen between the two brothers, both trying
to beat the other in order to become most wealthy.
Ambani joined his father’s company ‘Reliance Industries’ as the Co-Chief Executive Officer.
He has been accredited with leading several financial advances in the Indian capital markets.
He took the company to new heights of success. He led the country’s first expeditions in the
overseas capital markets with international public contributions of global depositary receipts,
bonds and convertibles. Another achievement of young Ambani was to raise approximately
$2 billion from the overseas financial markets along with a 100 year ‘Yankee Bond’ that was
issued in January 1997. After this accomplishment people called him a ‘financial wizard’.
Ambani steered the Reliance Industries to where it is today; a leading petroleum, power,
textiles, telecom and petrochemicals company. Ambani was also elected as an Independent
member of the Rajya Sabha.

 Conferred the 'Businessman of the Year 1997' award by India's leading business magazine Business
India, December 1997.

2.  Voted 'the Businessman of the Year' in a poll conducted by The Times of India – TNS, December
2006.
 Voted the 'Best role model' among business leaders in the biannual Mood of the Nation poll conducted
by India Today magazine, August 2006
 Conferred 'the CEO of the Year 2004' in the Platts Global Energy Awards
 Conferred 'The Entrepreneur of the Decade Award' by the Bombay Management Association, October
2002.
