INTENDED BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT AYACUT DETAILS Contemplated Ayacut under Annamayya Project 9105 Ha ( 22500 Ac) Khariff 13000 Ac (ID) Rabi 6500 Ac (ID) Wet Crops under 6 Nos of MI Tanks 3000 Ac (ID) Localized ayacut 10236 Ac Rabi in 12 villages of Rajampet & Pullampet Mandal in Annamayya District ( Gazette notification is under process ) MAJOR CROPS BANANA , PAPAYA , TURMERIC, PADDY DRINKING WATERSUPPLY SCHEMES 1. Drinking water supply to Rajampet Municipality 2. Drinking water supply to Pullampet Rural water Supply Scheme 3. Release of 0.190 TMC of water into Cheyyeru River during April and May for drinking water to Downstream villages in Nandalur and Penagaluru Mandals

Origin/cause of the issue JAVAD Cyclone November 2021. Due to Extremely Heavy rains in Nov 2021, the Irrigation tanks on upstream side of Pincha River and also Temporary ring bund at Pincha project itself have breached. This has resulted in over flooding the river in flash flood scenario and sudden increase in inflows at Annamayya Project . The spillway was unable to dissipate this unprecedented discharge as it is much more than its capacity. This has resulted in rise of water levels in reservoir above tank bund level, over topped the earthen dam on 19-11-2021 at early hours and bund completely eroded. Around 5,00,000 cusecs of inflow estimated as per Area slope method

ANNAMAYYA PROJECT AFTER JAWAD CYCLONE ON 19-11-2021

INSPECTIONS OF THE TECHNICAL EXPERTS COMMITTEE & CWC TEAM The technical committee formed under the chairmanship of the Engineer – in – chief, ( Technical), Vijayawada inspected the dam between 29.3.2022 to 31.3.2022 and conducted meeting 0n 5.5.2022 at Vijayawada. Discussions were made regarding the hydrology, designs and drawings of the restoration of the Annamayya project. The committee after detailed discussion recommended the 200 Year maximum flood discharge of 5, 60,000 cusecs for spillway maximum surplus discharge for restoration of Annamayya project . CWC inspected the project on 23 rd May 2022.

Technical Experts Committee Inspection of Annamayya Project on 29.03.2022

CWC TEAM INSPECTION OF ANNAMAYYA PROJECT ON 23.05.2022

NECESSITY OF RESTORATION OF THE ANNAMAYYA PROJECT To cater the needs of the existing project on drinking water schemes and contemplated ayacut, restoration of the dam is essential. Hence tentative drawings were prepared for additional spill way to accommodate additional spill way discharge and Non overflow concrete dam section in the balance eroded portion of earth dam .

PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION NAME OF WORK : LINE ESTIMATE FOR "PERMANENT RESTORATION WITH NOF CONCRETE DAM AND PROVIDING ADDITIONAL SPILLWAY FOR ANNAMAYYA PROJECT NEAR BADANAGADDA (V), RAJAMPET MANDAL OF ANNAMAYYA DISTRICT . EST. AMOUNT RS 801.00 Cr. ( AS PER SSR 2022 – 23)

PROPOSED NEW CONCRETE DAM: SALIENT FEATURES TOTAL LENGTH OF NEW DAM TO BE CONSTRUCTED – 336 M ( Excluding old spillway) LENGTH OF ADDITIONAL SPILL WAY _ 184.75 M LENGTH OF NOF SECTIONS L/S - 69.25 M, R/S - 82 M ADDITIONAL SPILLWAY DISCHARGE – 3,80,000 Cusecs. TBL +206.65 M FRL +203.600 M MWL +203.600 M CREST LEVEL OF ADDITIONAL SPILL WAY = +191.60 M NO & SIZE OF GATES IN ADDITIONAL SPILL WAY : 11 Nos of size of 13.25 M x 12.00 M.
