4. C ulture A nthropologist define culture as; P eople’s entire way of life. Culture is a system of knowledge, beliefs, patterns of behavior, and institutions that are created, learned, shared, and contested by group of people.

6. CULTURE IS LEARNED AND TAUGHT Humans does not genetically inherit culture. We learn culture throughout our lives from the people and organizations that surround us. Anthropologist call the process of learning culture ENCULTURATION.

7. ENCULTURATION Enculturation  is the process by which people learn the dynamics of their surrounding  culture  and acquire values and norms appropriate or necessary to that culture and its worldviews.

8. ENCULTURATION Enculturation, says E. Adamson Hebel, is "both a conscious and an unconscious conditioning process whereby man, as child and adult, achieves competence in his culture, internalizes his culture, and becomes thoroughly enculturated."

9. CULTURE IS SHARED YET CONTESTED Culture is a shared experience developed as a result of living as a member of a group. Through enculturation, humans learn how to communicate and establish patterns of behavior that allow us to live in the community. Cultures maybe shared by large groups and small groups.

10. CULTURE IS SYMBOLIC AND MATERIAL Through enculturation, the members of a culture develop a shared body of cultural knowledge and patterns of behavior. The elements of a culture powerfully frame what its participants say, what they do, and even what they think is possible and impossible.

11. CULTURE IS SYMBOLIC AND MATERIAL Norms are ideas or rules about how people should behave, normal and appropriate behavior. Fundamental beliefs about what is important, what makes a good life, what is true and right. Cultures include complex system of symbol and symbol action- in realms of language, art, religion, politics and economics-that convey meaning to those who share the cultures.
