The poem presented as if it is the voice of the women. In this poem the Tynan speaks about the sacrifices made by the women for the support and security of her home. The mother in Any woman says that she is the pillars of the house and keystone of arch without which the roof and wall would fall and house will be destroyed.
The mother is also like a twist or a knot in the ring that holds every strands together. She holds everybody in the family together. Finally the poet says that her care and hard work in the house which may make her children wonder whether she has a thousand hands. In the poem she is also compared the mother as a ‘mother bird’, who builds her nest, feeds the children and makes their bed with her own soft feathers. The poem ends with the mothers prayer to Jeasus, to keep her alive till the children grown.
