DIFFERENCE BETWEEN APPEAL AND REVISION

S/no Appeal Revision
1 Appeal is a right created by law. Revision is a Duty imposed by law on courts.
2 Where there is appeal no revision. Appeal lays
from the judgment and final order of courts
………………………..against day to day
proceedings.
Where there is Revision there is no Appeal.
3 Appeal is a matter between parties. While Revision concern the superior and
subordinate courts.
4 All higher level courts can exercise appellant
jurisdiction.
While revision power is available only to the High
Court and Court of session.
5 Appeal Could raise question of law and Fact. While Revision is confined to question of law
only.
6 More than one appeals are possible on same
issue.
While Revision lays only one.
7 Appellant jurisdiction has to be invoked by
Submitting memorandum of Appeal.
While Revision is possible SOMOTO.

9 Appeal can’t depose off without hearing of
party.
But it is not necessary in Revision.
10 Appellant court can convert Acquittal into
convection and vis versa.
But this power is not applicable in the court of
Revision.
11 But This enhancement is not open in court of
Appeal.
Punishment can enhance by the court of
session.(Revision)
12 Supreme court is highest court of Appeal. Supreme Court does not have Revision
Jurisdiction.
