APPROACH Is a way of looking at teaching and learning. Underlying any language teaching approach is a theoretical view of what language is and of how it can be learnt. An approach gives rise to methods – the way of teaching something – which use classroom activities or techniques to help learners learn.

Summary: APPROACH METHOD STRATEGY TECHNIQUE A way of looking at teaching and learning. A particular form of procedure for accomplishing or approaching something A plan of action or policy designed to achieve a main or overall aim. Is the method, procedure or a way something is done The way you handle something. Systematic planning or action A specific course of action that will take you from where you are now to where you want to be. A way of carrying out a particular task Gives rise to methods. A system or a way of doing something Is where you will focus your efforts to achieve your goals, and how you will succeed. A skillful or efficient way of doing or achieving something A process by which a task is completed It shows the path to achieve the defined vision It’s the “unique” way or style of a teacher in handling his/her class.

Materials Depends on the availability of instruction materials, the needs of the learners, the subject to be taught, and the environment. Procedures Dependent on the field of study, the specific method of teaching utilized and the preference of the teacher with regards to his/her style of teaching and learning Assignment/Homework/ Agreement Work assigned to students by teachers to be completed outside of the school
