2. La hidrografía es una rama de la geografía que se encarga de estudiar y describir las aguas del planeta Tierra, incluyendo ríos, lagos, mares y otros cuerpos de agua. La hidrografía se ocupa de analizar características como el caudal, el lecho, la cuenca y la sedimentación fluvial de las aguas continentales. El lago Itasca es el punto de origen del río Mississippi, que luego fluye hacia el sur a lo largo de aproximadamente 3.770 kilómetros hasta desembocar en el golfo de México.
