It’s been 75 years since we got our independence, on 15th of august our First
Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian national flag above
the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi.
But the point is “have we really achieved independence in the right way?”
People think getting rid of British Rule and coming under Democratic Rule is
freedom, we are independent just because we are not ruled by some people
who are not from our own country. Being Independent doesn’t mean coming
under democratic rule but it means we should have right to Freedom, Right to
Education and Culture, right against Exploitation and Right to Equality.
“These are not only six fundamental rights recognised by the Indian
constitution but in my opinion, these are basic preconditions something that
must exist or happen before something else can exist or happen.”
The right to Freedom has been exploited to such an extent in our
country that women are not safe in their motherland. You will find
enormous cases of molestation, abuse, kidnapped and finally murdered.
Neither in the day nor in the night they are never safe. “When a women
can come out of their house without ant fear the country will become
Independent.”
That’s not the only problem we have right now another major hurdle
which we have towards true independence is people using religion as a
vote bank, manipulating Hindus and Muslims as a tool to get not only
votes but to fulfil their own agendas.
“All religions teach us to live with peace no religion told us to fight or
disrespect another religion.”
People doing this are doing nothing but disrespecting the Great freedom
fighters who gave their lives to see us live as one.
We can take the example of Ms Gauri Lankesh who lost her life just
because of her fearless and outspoken activities Gauri was known for
being a critic of right-wing Hindu extremism, campaigning for women's
rights and opposing caste-based discrimination.
This shows that even after so many years of independence people don’t
have the right to express their feeling in front of everyone.
There are people in our society who don’t accept people who are
pursuing Education after forty years of age. People may ask “is education
limited to a particular age?” “can’t people educate themselves after
attaining a stable life?” “Is Education limited only to a particular age and
to a particular degree?” getting a job and a degree is not the only
purpose of education? What’s the point of getting freedom and
independence when people cannot enjoy their right to education?
We celebrate our Independence Day by paying tribute to our Brave warriors
and army by flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events. But why do
we give tribute to them only on 15 august and forget about them on other
times of the year? Why is it limited to one day itself?
“We must be the change we wish to see in the world.”--
Gandhi ji
why don’t we take an initiative to make the people aware of their Rights, why
don’t we help people to taste the real freedom, in this way our country will
become Independent and we will pay tribute to our Great Fighters.
