A and An are used When? 1. Before a noun that is introduced for the first time in speech or writing. >> I will tell you about an officer in the Indian army. 2. DEFINITE ARTICLE The It appears before both singular and plural nouns to refer to the person or thing they represent in a specific way . The is pronounced as द when it appears before a noun that begins with a consonant sound and pronounced as दी when it comes before a noun that begins with a vowel sound. ( The court / The army) Examples: Manju saw the helicopter. (A specific helicopter) Will you attend the function? (A specific function) The acrobat ran up the ladder.
