1. FAMILIARIZATION OF THE INSTALLATION OF LINUX SERVER
OPERATING SYSTEM AND ITS CONFIGURATION
Aim:
Familiarize the installation of linux server operating system and its configuration
Theory:
To install a virtual box and install and configure linux server operating system in ORACLE
Virtual box in window operating system.
Exp no: 1

2. Procedure :
•Install Virtual Box
• Open virtual box and select machine option then click New
• Enter the Name and select ISO Image then click Next

3. •adjust base memory and Processer then click Next

4. •create a virtual hard disk of required size
Then click Next.

5. • check all input are correct in the Summary window.If all are correct then
click on Finish button.

6. •Then click on start button. The configuration is starting.

7. •select language then click ENTER

8. •select the network adapter and accept the IP address if your system is in a
network with a DHCP server

9. •You can leave the default mirror selected then click Done

10. •Click on the Vbox_Harddisk and select Add GPT partition and
partition for root,swap,home

11. •Create partition for Root

12. •Create a partition for Swap (change format to swap)

13. •Create a partition of Home

14. • Check the disk partitions are correct as required. If all are correct
Then click Done

15. •Confirm changes made to the hard disk, Then CONTINUE

16. •In profile setup window input your username,server’s name, and create password.
Then click Done

17. •In SSH setup ,install OpenSSH server package click Done

18. •Finally the installation is completed and click Reboot Now

19. •Enter the username and password to login. Check the command ls for list,
cd for create directory, ls-l then init
