FAFSA Frenzy Deadline Extended to
March 1, 2022!
Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent weather events, we believe some students may have a
difficult time completing the FAFSA by the established Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Student Assistance Award
deadlines. Therefore, the decision has been made to extend the Tennessee Promise Scholarship FAFSA deadline and
the priority FAFSA deadline for the Tennessee Student Assistance Award to March 1, 2022. This deadline extension
will be in effect for new and continuing students. For more information, including FAFSA completion resources for students
and schools, please visit www.collegefortn.org/tn-fafsa-challenge/.
Tennessee leads the nation in the amount of financial aid awarded per student, awarding over $500 million annually in
financial aid to Tennessee students according to the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association (SHEEO). Filing
a FAFSA is the first step students must take to apply for most state and federal financial aid for college. There is FAFSA
completion help for students and families available during Tennessee FAFSA Frenzy including informational webinars,
FAFSA hotline, and step-by-step FAFSA filing guides. Additionally, THEC provides resources for schools and communities
focused on increasing FAFSA filing and supporting college and career ambitions across the state. All resources are available
on www.TNFAFSAFrenzy.gov.

In -Person Program
The Summer Bridge Program is a FREE three-week program that will be held from July 12-29,
Monday through Thursday from 9 AM-12:25 PM. The Summer Bridge Program is designed to help
incoming TN Promise college freshmen start on a more college-ready level, both academically and
socially. For three weeks students will attend a community college of their choice and receive
math, reading and English instruction. At the end of the program, students have the opportunity to
test out of learning support classes, saving them a semester or even a year of college coursework!
tnAchieves is working close with each community college to provide a safe, socially-distanced
learning environment for Summer Bridge participants and will adhere to college safety practices.
