Assertive Vs Aggressiveness By – Devesh & Raj Sameer GITAM UNIVERSITY

Assertive: Assertiveness is a form of communication in which needs or wishes are stated clearly with respect for oneself and the other person in the interaction.

Aggressive: Aggressive means standing up for yourself in ways that violate the rights of others. Aggressive behavior is typically punishing, hostile, blaming, and demanding. Involve threats, name-calling, and even actual physical contact. It can also involve sarcasm, catty comments, gossip and "slips of the tongue."

Difference of Assertive and Aggressive ASSERTIVE Speaks openly Values self equal to others  Tries to hurt no one (including self) Usually reaches goals without alienating others I'm okay, you're okay Cool , talks gently Good eye contact

AGGRESSION Interrupts and 'talks over' others  Values self more than others Hurts others to avoid being hurt Reaches goals but hurts others in the process I'm okay, you're not Intimidating Shouts Glares, stares
